Grasping at Straws

As I sat slowly beginning to pack for school today, I was struck by the fact that I have as of late been "grasping at straws". I have been trying to ignore the fact that school is looming in the very near future and trying to have as much good clean fun as I possibly can. I recently had the chance to take some small trips. I went with a group of people and climbed Mt. Katahdin. For anyone who doesn't know it is a very large mountainin Northern Maine. It is also the end of the Appalachian Trail. It was a long hike, but I enjoyed it. The trip there and back on the other hand is a different story., but that will have to wait. I also went the next day with my parents to the Maine Highland Games in Brunswick. We managed to catch more the end of the day. None the less I was fascinated with the games themselves, as well as the Scottish culture both old and modern that surrounded me. I am even going tomarrow to spend time with some very good friends, but it will all soon be over. In a way I hate the transition period, and know that getting back to Norwich will be a little hard at first. Yet, I am looking very happily and optimistically to what lies ahead.

Fruity Summer

Fruit seems to be my thing this summer. Not sure why , but I can't seem to get away from it. I spent most of my summer working at Hannaford of all places in the produce department. It was actually really good. I enjoyed the people that work in that department, and the pace is a little slower and there is less dealing with customers. I must say that I am glad it is over now though. Well the fruit just wouldn't leave me alone. It happened that on my very last day as a Produce associate. I recieved a call from a friend of mine. He and his brother have been raking blueberries every summer since they were little. Well, I guess the people they work for have had trouble keeping rakers. So he wanted to know if I could come and help for a few days. Well being the poor college student I am I decided a little more money for school would help. I forgot how hard it is. I raked two 8hr days and I must say I am spent. I would go to bed at night and you'll never guess what I would see. That's right Blueberries!!!!! But I enjoyed it in a way. Hard work is good for you, and I like it. Alas it is at an end though, and I must say goodbye to my truly fruity summer.

Almost School Time

It is almost time fopr school again. I must say I am a little unsure how I feel about that. Sophomore year should be pretty awesome. My official position will be barn corporal which makes me happy. I will be working with horses a lot, and training both freshman and upperclassman in riding. I am looking forward to it. I am a little concerned about small things like who my roomate will be and what my classes will be like. But I am sure it will all work out. I have to take math, so I am dreading that, but all my other classes look pretty enjoyable. I am really hoping for a good year, and think I will get it now that the rigors of freshman life are over.
